Well in the end, at 7pm, Caswell was a horrific lumpy, side and back washy mess and with safety in mind (and 20 prone surfers already in the cramped lineup) we decamped and headed to Swansea Bay. Swansea was a high tide mill pond and a very pleasant paddle was had between Knab Rock and the West Cross Inn. Of Particular interest was the board that Matt from SUP Gower brought along - a Drops 8'11" Furious. This board has a modern shortboard template with a twin fin set up and a domed deck - and although only 8 11 it was suprisingly easy to paddle and would clearly be loads of fun in waves.
It did cross my mind that if you live on the Gower and you SUP - if you can get down on a Wednesday you are not really likely to ever get a better chance to try out so many new boards, size, shape, make, style etc. So come on down. (Even if one of them is the inflatable that Dogman brought along :-) - but even that was huge fun with a very high grin factor as soon you experience the flex..

Matt tells me he has new toys for people to try on the next flat water session - so watch this space.

Hi you Gower Paddlers!!
I am very pleased to confirm that this Wednesday 21st April down at Caswell you will have the chance to try out the brand new Laird 14ft Coast Runner, the very same board that made its way over to Ilfracombe at the weekend! This board is a cracker - whether you are cruising with family members on board, powering down the coast (or across the channel) or looking for a very solid platform to explore and fish from - this board can do the lot.
In addition there will be a 12 ft Laird Surftech Softtop available - an ideal beginners board but still with a very respectable distance and surf pedigree.
Both boards very kindly provided by courtesy of Chris at the Guts Surfshop.  Come on Down, bring your wetsuit and have a go.

Conditions are looking good for tomorrow evening so its all systems go for our next get together. We have had a few requests for extra boards and paddles, so if you do have any spare kit and you are happy for someone else to use it please let us know. Otherwise see you down Caswell at 7.

Hi Guys,

So the website is all set up and ready to go (let me know if you spot any mistakes!!). Hopefully this evening we will have a good turn out for our first ever club meeting down at Caswell Bay. The forecast looks good and it even looks like the sun maybe starting to show itself. Hopefully we will have the same conditions as last night (flat calm and sunny!) as me and Jim had an awsome paddle from Caswell around to Hunts Bay and back, we even saw a pod of porpoises of Pwlldu Head which was amazing!

So first blog done, see you soon!
